Raul Pina was born in Mexico
in 1961. He studied at the Esmeralda School of Fine Art, Mexico's most
prestigious art school. He worked in Mexico City until 1997 when he moved
to London where he now lives and works. Exhibitions in Mexico include
"Homage to Joseph Beuys" and "Tabla Geografica", a
fundraising exhibition organised by Francisco Toledo. His work has been
commended in the 1993 Orozco Biennale and was selected in the 1996 Tamayo
Biennale. The following year his performance "The Death of Saturn"
was selected for the 1st Three-dimensional Biennale in the National University
of Art, Mexico City. Recent shows include a performance in the London
Biennale 2000 and an exhibition in El Gallo, Salamanca, Spain. His work
is also in collections in the University of Hertfordshire and the University
of Essex Collection of Latin American Art.
